Australia rally canceled due to fires

The final round of the World Rally Championship - Australia Rally - was canceled because of the threat of "catastrophic" fires.

Rally Australia was scheduled to be held this weekend in New South Wales. However, after three people died and more than 150 properties in the area were destroyed, a decision was made to cancel the race.

The organizers said they made the decision "taking into account the interests and safety of all involved."

A seven-day state of emergency has been declared, with authorities warning that the fires will spread quickly amid hot temperatures and high winds.

Rally Australia President Andrew Papadopoulos added: "Our thoughts are on the state community and especially on people who have lost loved ones, livelihoods and homes as a result of the fires. Thank you to the rally community for your support and understanding! "

Despite the force majeure, the championship standings were already decided on the previous round in Spain. So Eston From Tanak took his first title.
